Hospital
Black River Memorial Hospital is directly across the street from the Krohn Clinic. It is a 38 bed facility with approximately 1300 admissions per year. The hospital has 170 obstetric deliveries per year, all done by family physicians. The emergency room is staffed by three full-time family physicians on evenings and weekends; 7500 ER visits occur annually. On-staff consultants, representing a wide range of specialties, are available from the Marshfield, Mayo and Gunderson-Lutheran clinics.

Clinic
Krohn Clinic, founded in 1933, is the sole physician provider group for Jackson County. In addition to ten family physicians, Krohn employs two nurse practitioners, a general surgeon, a psychiatrist and a podiatrist. With physician direction, the Krohn Clinic has had stable medical staffing that allows for independence and autonomy. Residents learn from several visiting consultants including cardiology, ENT, high risk obstetrics, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, surgery and urology. The Krohn Clinic also serves as an educational site for University of Wisconsin medical students

Curriculum Overview
RTT residents spend most of the first year on traditional inpatient rotations like obstetrics, surgery, pediatrics and internal medicine in LaCrosse with the other core program residents. They begin their continuity outpatient practice in Black River Falls two half-days per week. Residents may choose to live in LaCrosse for the first year and commute to Black River Falls or live in Black River Falls all three years. For the last two years, the resident becomes an active member of the Krohn Clinic family practice group learning in an apprenticeship model. Curricular requirements are divided into block and longitudinal rotations planned parallel with the continuity outpatient practice. The resident rounds at the hospital before office hours, scrubs in on patient surgeries, deliveries, handles urgent care and learns practice management on-site. A few specialty rotations may be in LaCrosse during the last two years.
