Loan Repayment Programs for Health Professionals

The Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program is available to registered nurses who have competed a diploma or academic degree in nursing and who will practice in one of the nurse shortage counties in Wisconsin. Information is available from the federal office at (800) 435-6464 or see:

The Indian Health Service Loan Repayment Program is a federal program providing loan repayment to primary care physicians (MD/DO), dentists, NPs, CNMs, RNs, nurse anesthetists, mental health and allied health practitioners who serve a minimum two year obligation at Indian Health Service facilities and approved tribal health centers. The National Health Service Corps offers loan repayment assistance to primary health care professionals who agree to practice at least two years in a designated rural or urban HPSA. An NHSC loan can provide up to $50,000 for a two-year obligation. The Wisconsin Primary Care Program helps providers and clinics by providing information and helping with the application process.
